Weird and wacky hotels: A drain pipe

In an era of global business travel, most hotels tend to merge into one, offering largely the same services and facilities. However, there are some out there that choose to do things a little differently, squeezing accommodation into all manner of unlikely settings. They may not be five star in terms of luxury, but some hotels deserve five stars for sheer bizarre ingenuity.

Where:

Ottensheim, Austria

What:

Dasparkhotel has a prime setting, in the middle of a park by the River Danube in Linz, Austria. However, that's as close to five star luxury as it gets. It consists of three big concrete drainpipes, each of which has had a double bed rammed into it. Blankets, storage space and a power point are also provided, whilst other amenities can be found in the surrounding park.

Cost:

Guests are encouraged to leave a donation equivalent to what they think the night's accommodation was worth.
