'IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO GIVE HER BACK'

The mother of Madeleine McCann has pleaded with her daughter's abductors to return the missing four-year-old.

Her latest appeal comes two months after the young girl was snatched from a holiday villa in Portugal.

In an interview to mark the anniversary, Kate McCann said if she had any message for the kidnappers, it would be that "it is not too late to give her back".

She and husband Gerry said every day without their daughter was still "incredibly difficult" and they feel incapable of returning to their jobs as doctors.

The couple said they intend to remain in Portugal for the foreseeable future.

"We are committed to staying and we feel closer to Madeleine here," Mr McCann said.

"Right now we are not capable as working as doctors. We still feel a lot can be done by ourselves.

"What we don't want is to look back in another three or four months and say we wish had done this."

The couple have campaigned tirelessly to find Madeleine since she was taken from the family's holiday apartment in the Algarve town of Praia da Luz on May 3.

Their campaign has included visits to several other countries and regular press conferences to keep Madeleine in the public eye.

The McCanns now meet Portuguese police on a regular basis, but despite an extensive investigation there have been no significant developments in the case.

But Mrs McCann said she was reassured the police were 100% committed to finding Madeleine, adding they had a very good working relationship with them.

"Our determination to find Madeleine is matched by theirs," she said.
