Artist of the month

Katie Melua
Katie Melua is a bonfide pop phenomenom and with the release of new album Pictures, that success is set to continue and we have a full-blown Katie fest for you to enjoy with a live session, more tracks from Pictures and an excluisve interview!

Of all the Sessions that AOL Music has recorded, and there have been very man, working with Katie Melua was the easiest. Relaxed, easy going and very professional, she nailed everything in one take and breezed through the whole thing.
It sounded great and it was clear that here was a women very much in control and doing exactly what she wants to be doing, and all with love and attention to detail.
Her career to date has reflected that. From Call Off The Search, Katie's music is simple, beautiful and resonates with millions as sales of that album and the follow-up Piece By Piece have shown. The songs are infectious, even delicate and yet they stand up to be heard time and again.

However, rather than success being a burden or pressuresome, it's the challenge of reflecting the changes in her live and the need to keep moving forward that drives her.
"The one thing that I've learnt from making three albums is that you don't know what is going to happen when you start recording. The fact that I am a bit older, have different interests, have more experiences, and that I have grown and developed as an artist means that this album would be different in some way from the first two.
"I would not want to just try and emulate the success of the previous albums but I also don't feel the need to change for change's sake or to please anyone other than myself," she says.
From Pictures, we have three tracks this week (three more next week) for you to enjoy. What I Miss About You, Spellbound and What It Says On The Tin.
Katie sums it up thus: "I'm really proud of Pictures. It definitely feels like the third part of the trilogy that Mike and I have collaborated on as a creative team. It stays true to what we have always tried to focus on - the lyrics and melody, with emotional songs that hark back to the roots of songwriting."
